There I was, walking into Pizza Pilgrims to meet my friends for pizza and wine and before saying hello, I had the pleasure of saying: “I am interviewing the King of Rwanda tomorrow.” And you guessed it, they were guffawed.
Guffawed I tell you.
But of course, with any significant event or time in my life – my head went to the outfit. I knew I had the perfect dress. But what I needed was definitely some boots for the look to work.
So as fate would have it, post pizza, wine and ice cream, we sauntered past And Other Stories to see a very large 70% off sign. Normally I ignore the place because I cannot afford it but on we went and next thing you know, I am walking away with a bag the size of my legs.
Bright fuscia pink glitter boots worth £125 reduced by 70%. So after two trained journalists and one chartered engineer eventually worked out that 70% off meant £37.50, they were bought.
On to the day, because let’s talk about that day. Just like any other day it went: alarm, coffee, instagram scroll before realising the time, make-up and a rush out the door. This time I only had to skip round the corner for a cab rather than walking, which was fine by me at 730 in the morning otherwise known as the time I usually wake.
Arriving at the RSA, I excitedly took photos and then went to introduce myself to the king. Now here’s the thing…when you meet a king you apparently don’t touch them. Well I didn’t know this so shook his hand and stood chatting about Uganda (common ground haaaannnnny) before getting ushered away the advisor.
Let’s all just agree it was a really odd experience meeting the king of Rwanda, who lives in Manchester, but at least I did it in one fly AF outfit.
This dress was reduced in the January sales, although I have had my eye on it for ages so I am very glad to finally own it. I will try and find as many similar looks as I can in the widget below, which FYI is filled with affiliate links so that I can make a bit of money per click.
