I have decided to take a much needed step towards beauty again. I have been spending a lot of time and effort learning more about make-up and essentially, I really enjoy it. Granted I still suck at it but I thought I’d start talking about a few products that I have fallen in love with, starting with these Nyx matte lip creams.

I wasn’t super excited like everybody else about Nyx coming to Boots, but then when I was there I suddenly felt like a teenager and ended up swatching the lipsticks more than too many times. Honestly, I had an array of red stains on my hand – and I mean stains.

My favourite thing about this lipstick, is that it doesn’t feel like I am wearing anything. I hate that feeling of heavy matte lips and that is what most lipsticks give. But this one, I don’t feel like I have anything on my lips, there is obviously colour there but I don’t feel like there is – does that make sense?

As always, this matte lipstick is a little drying. Not drying enough that I feel like I have to apply lipbalm constantly but I have found myself reaching for it more than I would with other lip products, although it could be because I have a cold coming on.

So the actual brush, it’s a little tricky. I mean, I suck at applying lipstick at the best of times but I found this harder. I didn’t use a lipliner first so it did bleed round my lips. I also found that there was a lot of product on the actual brush when I went to apply it, and although it wasn’t great, it did make applying the product a little thicker, which essentially gave better coverage and colour.

Between the two, I think my favourite is the pink. It may be a time of the year but I know in myself that I have been keeping the paler of the two in my bag almost every day. Between the two, I also find it a lot easier to actually apply the darker lip than the pink – does anybody else have that issue?

All in all, the colour is amazing, with the stain lasting a good few hours and surviving the tea test. It feels amazing when I put it on and I think I will need to invest in some more.

Have you tried any Nyx products?
